Job summary

Milk Education is seeking a Cover Supervisor in the Gosforth area for a full‑time September start. The role focuses on maintaining engagement with pre‑set work and upholding safeguarding and behaviour standards in line with school policies.

You’ll receive Cover Supervisor training to build confidence, classroom management techniques, and practical skills before stepping into the classroom. A degree or equivalent experience with secondary students is required.

Qualifications

• A degree (in any subject) or equivalent experience with secondary-aged students.
• Excellent communication and classroom management skills.
• Confidence leading groups of students independently.
• Positive, adaptable and proactive approach to various school environments.
• Genuine passion for supporting young people’s learning and development.

Responsibilities

• Supervising whole classes in the absence of the class teacher, ensuring students stay engaged with pre-set work.
• Managing classroom behaviour in line with the school’s behaviour policy.
• Creating a calm, positive, and productive learning environment.
• Providing guidance and encouragement to students where appropriate.
• Reporting on lesson outcomes and any safeguarding concerns to teaching staff.
• Supporting the wider school community with professionalism and enthusiasm.
