Job summary

Milk Education is recruiting a Cover Supervisor for a well established secondary school in Gateshead. You will deliver pre-planned lessons, maintain high behaviour standards, and create a calm, purposeful learning environment in the absence of the class teacher.

The role involves supervising classes, following the school’s behaviour policy, and supporting students with diverse learning needs. This is a full-time, term-time position with competitive daily pay.

Qualifications

• Experience as Cover Supervisor or similar classroom role.
• Outstanding behaviour and classroom management.
• Confidently lead classes of up to 30 students independently.
• Resilient, adaptable and calm under pressure.
• Willingness to obtain Enhanced DBS Update Service if needed.

Responsibilities

• Deliver pre-planned lessons across a range of subjects.
• Establish a positive, calm, focused classroom environment.
• Apply school behaviour policies consistently and confidently.
• Manage challenging behaviour using positive strategies.
• Encourage pupil engagement, motivation and focus throughout lessons.
• Support students with varying learning needs and promote inclusion.
• Liaise with teaching staff and report on lesson progress and behaviour.
