Job summary

Marchant Recruitment is seeking a Computer Science Teacher for a two-term placement starting January 2027 in Wakefield. You will deliver structured computing lessons, developing pupils’ programming skills and supporting GCSE preparation.

Holds QTS or an equivalent teaching qualification and can explain technical concepts clearly. The role offers full-time hours in a supportive school environment with a focus on digital literacy and practical learning.

Qualifications

• Holds QTS or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
• Strong CS subject knowledge and ability to teach programming.
• Able to explain technical concepts clearly to pupils with varied levels of experience.
• Demonstrates effective classroom management and assessment strategies.

Responsibilities

• Teach Computer Science across KS3 and KS4.
• Deliver lessons on algorithms, programming, computer systems, networks and data representation.
• Plan practical coding activities that develop logical thinking and independent problem-solving.
• Support GCSE pupils with examination preparation and programming-related tasks.
• Assess pupil understanding regularly and address misconceptions through targeted teaching.
• Maintain a safe, purposeful learning environment during practical computer-based lessons.
