Job summary

Google UK Sovereign Operations in Hampshire seeks a Network Operations Engineer to design, deploy and operate private cloud networks for critical UK customers. This on-site role requires the office to be at a satellite site in Hampshire, with occasional travel to London, and a standard five-day in-office schedule.

You will work with Kubernetes, Cilium, Istio, IaC and GitOps to automate networking changes, monitor performance, and maintain secure cross-cluster communications, while pursuing DV/SC

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience in CS/Networking/Info Security.
• 3 years Linux system administration and kernel-level networking experience.
• Proficiency with scripting (Python, Bash, PowerShell).
• Ability to obtain DV UK security clearance.
• Experience designing secure, resilient networks.

Responsibilities

• Engage and improve the whole life cycle of secure cloud platform network systems.
• Assist Engineering and Operations teams in building automation to scale within private/secure networks.
• Maintain and debug cross-cluster communications in air-gapped Kubernetes using Cilium and Istio.
• Scale systems through automation and changes to improve reliability, security, and performance.
• Drive Infrastructure as Code and GitOps pipelines; provide technical support in customer environments.
