Sopra Steria Ltd in Salisbury is seeking a Network Engineer (Deployable Services) to support the JMNIAN, a mission-critical defence network, delivering secure, high-availability infrastructure across UK Defence and international coalitions.

The role covers design, implementation, operation, and security of networks; you will work with defence stakeholders, implement SDN and inter-enclave firewall, develop automation, and maintain documentation using Confluence, with a hybrid pattern: 3 days on

Qualifications

• Strong networking engineering experience in enterprise/defence/data centre environments.
• CCNP certification (or equivalent) required.
• Significant firewall engineering experience with multi-vendor environments.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and support the JMNIAN network and international gateways.
• Deliver network design changes and architectural improvements.
• Analyse network monitoring data.
• Manage network security controls, including perimeter security and internet-facing policies.
• Support software-defined networking and inter-enclave firewall solutions.
• Develop automation and tooling.
• Create and maintain technical documentation using Confluence.
