Job Description:

Duty Shift Manager

Location: Liverpool

Work Schedule: Days/nights and weekends, 12-hour shifts

Type: Permanent

At Hitachi Rail, we have a great opportunity for an enthusiastic, self-motivated Duty Shift Manager who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is comfortable performing a wide range of tasks from administrative to strategic. This position is based in London at Bounds Green Train Maintenance Centre.

Accountabilities:

• Manage maintenance teams, including individual and team development, with a focus on safety, quality, performance, and wellbeing.
• Ensure contractual requirements for train availability are met during shifts.
• Complete all contractual KPIs and maintain accurate records in the maintenance management system.
• Support good health, safety, and environmental practices.
• Organise resources for planned and unplanned traction and rolling stock activities.
• Ensure the safe movement of rolling stock.
• Recruit and develop maintenance team members.
• Control costs through resource planning.
• Identify and manage hazards in the railway environment.
• Conduct maintenance checks and diagnose faults, passing issues to the technical team as needed.
• Implement maintenance plans and develop process improvements.
• Handle disciplinary issues and conduct assessments per depot competence management system.
• Develop professionally and foster good working relationships.
• Learn new skills aligned with Hitachi’s business needs.
• Liaise with Hitachi and external personnel to fulfill responsibilities.

About you:

Required Skills/Knowledge:

• Knowledge of stock-specific maintenance and faulting.
• Assessment experience.

Education/Qualifications:

• Served apprenticeship in mechanical or electrical disciplines.
