Job summary

OV-Group Inns and Taverns in the United Kingdom is seeking a confident, hands-on Duty Pub Manager to lead a venue through busy service, ensuring safety, cleanliness and high standards.

You will manage day-to-day operations on shift, motivate staff, deliver excellent customer service, handle cash and stock, and ensure licensing and health and safety compliance while supporting events and community activity.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in pub/bar/restaurant hospitality management or supervisory role.
• Confident leading a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong customer service skills with a friendly, professional approach.
• Good understanding of licensed premises and responsible alcohol service.
• Organised, reliable and able to prioritise tasks under pressure.
• Comfortable handling cash, basic reporting and stock control.
• Positive attitude, hands-on approach across the business.
• Good communication and issue resolution skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead shifts confidently, ensuring the pub runs smoothly, safely and efficiently from opening to close.
• Deliver excellent customer service and create a welcoming atmosphere for guests, regulars and visitors.
• Support, motivate and supervise bar and floor teams during service.
• Handle customer queries, feedback and complaints professionally.
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness, food safety and hygiene.
• Ensure compliance with licensing laws, age-verification, health and safety, and company policies.
• Oversee till procedures, banking preparation and end-of-shift reporting.
• Monitor stock levels, assist with ordering, stock checks and waste reduction.
• Support training, coaching and performance standards.
• Plan and promote events, offers and community activity to drive footfall and sales.
• Assist with rota planning and staffing levels.
