Job summary

Role Description

The Duty Manager role is a full-time, on-site position based at The Range store in Telford. The Duty Manager oversees day-to-day store operations, ensuring the sales floor is well-presented, stock levels are maintained, and merchandising standards are consistently met. This role coordinates and supports team members during shifts, manages rotas and task allocation, and helps ensure excellent customer service throughout the store. The Duty Manager responds to customer queries and escalations, supports cash handling and till procedures, and helps maintain compliance with company policies, health and safety standards, and security procedures. The role also contributes to meeting sales targets, monitoring performance indicators, and assisting with training and onboarding of new team members.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience in retail or customer-facing environments, with the ability to provide friendly, efficient, and solution-focused service.
• Proven supervisory or team-leading experience, including coordinating staff, overseeing shifts, and supporting performance and development.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage workloads, and maintain store standards in a busy environment.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with colleagues, handle customer issues, and convey information clearly.
• Basic numeracy and cash-handling competence, with attention to detail and reliability in following financial and operational procedures.
• Understanding of health and safety, loss prevention, and compliance practices within a retail setting, or willingness to learn and apply these quickly.
• Comfort with using point-of-sale systems and basic technology for reporting, scheduling, and communication.
• Flexibility to work a range of shifts, including weekends and evenings, in line with store requirements.
• Previous experience in a large-format or multi-department store is beneficial but not essential.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and perform manual tasks such as lifting, stocking, and moving merchandise, with reasonable accommodations as needed.
