Job description

As Duty Manager, you will work as a Retail Assistant and receive a £2 per hour supplement for managing shifts.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Have a clear focus on delivering great availability for your customers.
  2. Play an active role in your store to “sell a £1 & save a £1” to help drive sales.
  3. Deliver on all agreed actions set for you by your line manager.
  4. Proactively support and work with the Talking Shop Rep in your store.
  5. Play a part in creating an inclusive culture where everyone can be their best.
  6. Take a proactive approach to personal development and share your knowledge to support up-skilling the team.

Doing the right processes and doing them right:

  1. Complete actions set by your line manager following daily floor walks, focusing on customer experience.
  2. Maintain a positive approach to service, both in-store and at the doorstep, aiming to be the best place to shop.
  3. Follow and implement all cash handling and security policies & processes.
  4. Contribute to providing the best digital service by implementing all “One Best Way” processes.

Leadership:

Your leadership approach should be at the heart of everything you do to motivate your team and serve customers:

  1. Be approachable and love your customers.
  2. Show respect and look after your team.
  3. Work enthusiastically and foster teamwork.
  4. Hate waste and take action to minimize it.

Required skills & experience:

  1. Experience in retail management or supervisory roles is preferred but not essential.
  2. Communicate effectively with colleagues to ensure tasks are completed correctly the first time.
  3. Plan and organize shifts, utilizing every team member.
  4. Provide balanced feedback to improve team performance.
  5. Lead by example, being hands-on during shifts to ensure store excellence.
