Job summary

Octopus Group is looking for a Smart Meter Engineer to join their team in Llandudno, Wales. In this role, you will install smart meters and educate customers on their usage to promote energy savings. The starting salary is £36,500, with additional benefits including annual performance bonuses and a company vehicle.

The ideal candidate will have experience in installing smart meters and hold the necessary certifications. A commitment to excellent customer service is essential.

Qualifications

• Previous experience installing smart meters.
• Valid MOCoPA certification held within the last 2 years.
• Full UK driving licence with no more than 6 points.

We're looking for Smart Meter Engineers with a track record of safety and customer excellence. You’ll be representing our brands in our customers’ homes, so you’ll need to be equally comfortable talking to the customer and getting to know them as you are about doing the installation itself.

Responsibilities

• Fit and install smart meters and in‑home displays.
• Show customers how their meter and display work and explain how they can save energy.
• Answer any questions related to green energy and the services we offer.

What you’ll need

• Previous experience installing smart meters.
• A customer‑first mindset and a can‑do attitude.
• Valid MOCoPA certification held within the last 2 years (evidence required).
• Gas Safe – CCN1/MET1 or CMA1/MET1 (or equivalent).
• Full UK driving licence with no more than 6 points.

Call‑out and Overtime

• You will be on a rotating call‑out schedule once every five weeks (Monday to Sunday), for which you will receive a £250 retainer. If called out, you’ll be paid from door to door.

Saturday working

• £50 for attending
• £70 for a dual fuel installation
• £35 for a single fuel installation
• Technical aborts are paid at half rate
