Job summary

City College Plymouth is seeking a learner-focused professional to provide mentoring, engagement and progression support across the DTEC. You will work directly with learners to identify and address barriers to participation and build readiness for progression into apprenticeships and technical study.

Working with curriculum, careers and employer-engagement colleagues, you will ensure timely, personalised support and help learners from underrepresented groups access and sustain successful

37 Hours Per Week | One year fixed term contract in the first instance, subject to funding | £36,070 Per Annum

The Role

We are seeking a learner-focused professional to provide targeted mentoring, engagement and progression support across the DTEC. You will work directly with learners to identify and address barriers to participation, improve retention and achievement, and build confidence and readiness for progression into apprenticeships, higher technical study and defence-related employment. Working closely with curriculum, careers and employer-engagement colleagues, you will help ensure learners receive timely, personalised support and that those from underrepresented groups can access and sustain successful technical career pathways.

What Will You Bring To The Role

• Collaborating - Able to recognise changes in learner engagement, confidence and wellbeing, understand individual barriers and perspectives, and build supportive relationships that encourage participation and progression.
• Focused - Able to remain attentive to learner attendance, engagement and progress information, focus on the most important risks, and make timely and appropriate decisions about support and escalation.
• Learning - Able to learn from patterns in learner behaviour, feedback and outcomes, anticipate where disengagement or progression barriers may develop, and adapt interventions to the needs of individual learners.
• Persistence - Able to provide consistent support when learners experience setbacks, maintaining patience, confidence and determination and trying alternative approaches to help learners remain engaged and progress successfully.
