Job summary

Smile Education is helping a welcoming secondary school in Haringey, North London recruit a Design & Technology Technician to join from September 2026. The role supports practical DT lessons and keeps workshops well-organised and safe.

You will prepare materials and tools, assist teachers and students, manage stock, and help with displays. A proactive hands-on approach and knowledge of workshop safety are essential; DBS checks are required.

Qualifications

• Experience as a DT Technician or similar within Design Technology.
• Strong practical skills with tools and workshop equipment.
• Knowledge of health and safety procedures in a workshop.
• DBS Update Service or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Preparing materials, tools and equipment for DT lessons.
• Supporting teachers during practical lessons and assisting students.
• Maintaining and organising DT workshops, classrooms and storage areas.
• Ensuring tools, machinery and equipment are safe, clean and ready for use.
• Carrying out basic maintenance and repairs of equipment where appropriate.
• Managing stock levels and ordering materials when required.
• Supporting displays, student projects and practical demonstrations.
• Ensuring health and safety procedures are followed at all times.
• Collaborating with the DT department to provide an engaging learning environment.
