Job summary

Hackney secondary school is seeking a qualified DT Technician to join its Design & Technology department for a full-time, term-time-only contract with immediate start.

You will support the smooth running of the DT department by preparing materials and equipment, maintaining workshop areas and assisting teachers during practical lessons, while ensuring tools and machinery are used safely and health and safety checks are completed.

Are you a qualified DT Technician with strong experience working with tools, machinery and practical workshop equipment? About the role:

As a DT Technician, you will support the smooth running of the Design & Technology department by preparing materials and equipment, maintaining workshop areas and assisting teachers during practical lessons.

You will ensure that tools, machinery and specialist equipment are maintained and used safely, while supporting the department with health and safety procedures and relevant checks. You will also help ensure pupils have access to the resources they need to develop their practical skills and succeed within DT.

What you’ll need to succeed:

• A recognised DT Technician or relevant technical qualification is essential
• Previous experience working with tools, machinery and workshop equipment
• A recognised health and safety qualification/training relating to tools and machinery
• Strong knowledge of practical workshop procedures and equipment
• Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
• A proactive, reliable and practical approach
