A well-regarded secondary school in Barking is seeking to appoint a reliable and enthusiastic DT Technician to join its successful Design & Technology department. This role is to start in September 2026.

Job Overview

DT Technician - Experience and Qualifications

The successful candidate will ideally have:

• Previous experience working as a DT Technician, Workshop Technician or in a similar practical/technical role
• Experience supporting Design & Technology, Resistant Materials, Product Design, Engineering, Food Technology or related subjects
• A relevant qualification or practical experience in Design & Technology, Engineering, Construction, Manufacturing or a related field
• Good knowledge of workshop tools, machinery, materials and practical equipment
• The ability to prepare resources and equipment effectively for practical lessons
• Strong awareness of health and safety procedures and safe working practices
• Good organisational skills, with the ability to manage stock, resources and equipment
• The ability to carry out routine maintenance and identify equipment requiring repair or replacement
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills when working with teachers, students and support staff
• A proactive, reliable and practical approach, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
• A commitment to supporting students and contributing positively to the wider school environment
