Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or a recognised equivalent teaching qualification.
Strong subject knowledge across Design & Technology.
Experience teaching DT within a UK secondary school.
Ability to deliver engaging lessons across KS3 and KS4, with KS5 where appropriate.
Strong practical knowledge and confidence with relevant tools, materials and processes.
Effective classroom management and communication skills.
A commitment to supporting students of different abilities and encouraging creativity.
The successful DT Teacher will plan and deliver high-quality lessons that combine theoretical understanding with practical application. You will create an engaging learning environment where students can develop their creativity, problem-solving abilities and confidence using a range of materials and techniques.
Key responsibilities include:
Planning and delivering engaging DT lessons across KS3-KS5, as appropriate.
Teaching relevant areas such as product design, resistant materials and practical design skills.
Supporting students through design, development and evaluation projects.
Assessing student progress and providing constructive feedback.
Maintaining high standards of behaviour and workshop safety.
Working collaboratively with colleagues to develop the DT curriculum.
Contributing to extracurricular activities and wider school life where appropriate.
