Job summary

Hertfordshire County Council is recruiting a Driver for the HertsLynx on-demand service covering North East Hertfordshire and Stevenage. Starting salary £13.52 per hour, rising to £13.73, with 37 hours per week on a permanent/variable contract. You will drive manual and automatic vehicles, follow scheduled routes and deliver a safe, friendly passenger experience.

A full D1 licence is essential; training, safeguarding and first aid are provided.

Qualifications

• A full, unrestricted D1 licence is essential and experience driving both manual and automatic vehicles.
• Confident and safe driver with empathetic and professional approach.
• Comfortable working independently and following scheduled routes.
• Reliable, customer focused and committed to helping residents in the community.
• Willingness to undertake mandatory training, including moving & handling, safeguarding and first aid.
• Driving assessment required.

Responsibilities

• Drive assigned routes for HertsLynx on-demand service.

HertsLynx, is Hertfordshire s on demand bus service, providing flexible transport in rural and less well served areas.
Passengers book journeys via an app, website, or phone rather than using fixed routes or timetables.
The service groups bookings together to plan efficient routes in real time.
HertsLynx improves accessibility, reduces car dependency, and makes better use of public transport resources.

Essential criteria

• A full, unrestricted D1 licence is essential and experience driving both manual and automatic vehicles.
• A confident and safe driver with empathetic and professional approach.
• Comfortable working independently and following scheduled routes.
• Reliable, customer focused and committed to helping residents in the community.
• Reliable, punctual and able to work independently to assigned shifts and timings.
• Willingness to undertake mandatory training, including moving & handling, safeguarding and first aid.
• Driving assessment required.
