We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Driving SEN Learning Support Assistant to work within our SEN Outreach Team, supporting children from Primary SEN settings across the Plymouth area. This is a highly rewarding and dynamic role where you'll help children with a variety of special educational needs (SEN) to access tailored learning outside of a traditional classroom setting.
This position is ideal for someone who is passionate about inclusive education, enjoys working flexibly across different environments and is confident working 1:1 or in small groups. You will often escort children in your own vehicle to and from outreach sessions, making a full, clean UK driving licence and access to a suitable vehicle essential.
Provide tailored 1:1 or small group support to children with SEN in community or alternative settings.
Assist in delivering structured learning sessions based on individual EHCP targets.
Escort and supervise children safely in your own vehicle to and from outreach provisions (mileage allowance provided).
Liaise with school staff, SENCOs, and other professionals to ensure continuity of care and education.
Support the emotional, behavioural, and academic development of pupils in a nurturing, patient manner.
Accurately record session outcomes and provide feedback to the wider SEN team.
Experience working with children with Special Educational Needs (ASD, ADHD, SEMH, MLD, etc.)
Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle suitable for transporting children (business insurance may be required).
A calm, resilient, and flexible approach to working with young people.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
An enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply for one).
Relevant qualification or training in SEN support is desirable but not essential.
Daily rate of £88 to £95, depending on experience.
Regular, consistent hours during school term-time.
