Job summary

First Bus London is seeking Driving Instructors based at various garages to provide training for new starters and existing staff. You will prepare a driver to work in a London Bus environment, delivering PCV Driving and Theory Instruction for Non-PCV drivers up to test-ready standard, and refresher training for PCV drivers to uphold First Bus London's standards.

Responsibilities include remedial training for employees referred for poor driving, pass/fail assessments, and giving advice on driving

Qualifications

• PCV Instructor qualification desirable (training provided for candidates with a current PCV licence)
• Strong customer service and communication skills
• Experience training PCV drivers and preparing candidates for DVSA Module 3 and 4 tests
• Understanding of driving assessment standards and retraining requirements

Job description

We're currently looking for Driving Instructors to be based at various garages across First Bus London to provide excellent training for both new starters and existing staff.

You will be responsible for the full preparation of a driver to work in a London Bus environment. This position is essential to maintaining First Bus London's position as a quality service provider. As well as providing PCV Driving and Theory Instruction for Non-PCV drivers up to test-ready standard you will be delivering refresher training to PCV drivers to ensure they are maintaining First Bus London's driving standards.

As a Driving Instructor you will undertake remedial training for existing employees referred by garages for poor driving standards and giving an overall pass/fail assessment as well as giving advice on driving standards where appropriate.

Skills Required:

• PCV Instructor qualification desirable (training provided for candidates holding a current PCV licence for at least three years)
• Clean accident record and consistently high driving standards
• Strong customer service and communication skills
• Ability to provide constructive feedback and coach drivers effectively
• Experience training PCV drivers and preparing candidates for DVSA Module 3 and 4 tests
• Understanding of driving assessment standards and driver retraining requirements
• Adaptable training style to support learners of varying abilities and experience levels
• Sound judgement, logical thinking and strong record-keeping skills
• Ability to work early and late shifts, Monday to Friday
