Job summary

First Bus West Yorkshire is seeking an experienced Recruitment and Training Officer to develop drivers and lead coaching across our West Yorkshire operations. You will deliver high-quality driver training, Driver CPC modules and remedial coaching, supporting new trainee drivers and colleagues while upholding safety and service standards across multiple depots.

Regular travel to other West Yorkshire locations and occasional weekends may be required to meet business needs, with a depot-based base

Qualifications

• PCV licence held for at least 2 years.
• Experience delivering Category D training in bus/coach.
• Proven DVSA Module 3A/3B coaching and preparation.
• Knowledge of DVSA standards and driver training practices.
• Experience with Driver CPC or refresher training.
• Understanding of bus operations and safety regulations.
• Strong communication and feedback skills.
• Recognised instructional qualification (e.g. PTLLS, Level 3 Ed & Training).
• Experience conducting driving assessments and remedial training.
• Knowledge of apprenticeship standards.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality driver training in line with DVSA standards.
• Train new drivers through First Bus training programmes.
• Deliver Driver CPC modules and development programmes.
• Provide remedial coaching after incidents or assessments.
• Invigilate theory tests and guide qualification process.
• Create an inclusive learning environment and give feedback.
• Work with local managers to align training with operational needs.
• Support local recruitment activities and candidate experiences.
• Deliver inductions on policies and safety.
• Maintain training and recruitment records.
• Identify opportunities to improve content and delivery.
• Manage training schedules and vehicle availability.
• Undertake driving duties when required.
• Act as ambassador for First Bus and WYCA Weaver Network.
• Support community engagement and stakeholder activities.
