Job summary

NewCold Transport Limited in Wakefield is seeking an experienced Driver Trainer to join our team. The role focuses on maintaining and improving safety and compliance within our driver workforce, assessing, training and supporting both new recruits and long-standing drivers to ensure adherence to regulatory and organisational standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum Level 3 or equivalent qualification in Transport, Logistics or a related discipline.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in driver training or driver assessment.
• Experience working within transport compliance and regulatory frameworks.
• Strong knowledge of driver compliance legislation and best practice.
• Proficiency in driver management systems such as Tachomaster.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Analytical skills to interpret driver performance and compliance data.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive assessments and deliver training for new starters during recruitment and induction.
• Ensure consistent delivery of driver training to a high standard, in full compliance with all relevant legal requirements.
• Support the development and updating of training materials to maintain and enhance driver competencies.
• Manage driver infringements by providing appropriate debriefing and retraining, or recommending further compliance action where necessary.
• Offer guidance and support to the driver pool, encouraging continuous development and adherence to best practice.
• Assist with post accident or incident "golden hour" activities, including retraining and assessments as required.
• Communicate and collaborate effectively with the Transport team to manage and resolve time sensitive incidents and documentation.
• Conduct daily driver and vehicle compliance checks (Gate Checks), contributing to a culture of continuous improvement.
• Use the Tachomaster system to monitor driver compliance, including licence validation, eyesight checks and driving assessments.
