Job description

About the role

As a Driver Trainee Installer, you will be supported through our 12-month trainee programme to become a fully qualified John Lewis Customer Delivery Installer with a C1 driving licence.

Once you're fully trained, you'll have the opportunity to bring our distinctive John Lewis service directly to customers' homes, installing products such as furniture, large electrical appliances, sound systems, and TV sets as part of a 2-person delivery crew.

Due to the nature of the role, applicants must be 18 years or older.

Salary: The expected starting rate for a Customer Delivery Hub Driver Trainee is £32,002 annually.

Key Responsibilities

After qualification, your day will start at the delivery hub before heading out on route. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Being an ambassador for the John Lewis brand with excellent customer service as your priority.
  • Assisting in loading your lorry with deliveries alongside the warehouse team.
  • Respecting customers' homes and handling unexpected situations to find the best solutions.
  • Installing products efficiently and demonstrating their use to customers.
  • Staying updated on new products and technologies.
  • Maintaining a safe working environment.

Essential skills/experience

  • UK B-Category manual driving licence with no more than 6 points.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills, both over the phone and face-to-face.
  • Ability to handle the physical demands of the role, including delivering large items.
  • A passion for technology and installation.

Desirable skills/experience

  • Previous experience in installation and delivery driving.
