Job summary

Robert Dyas is seeking a skilled Class 2 HGV Driver for the Hemel Hempstead Distribution Centre. You will safely operate a Class 2 vehicle, deliver and collect goods with a tail lift, and perform pre/post-trip checks.

The role emphasizes accurate record-keeping, strong communication, and adherence to safety procedures. Night shifts run 18:00–02:45 with a 45-minute unpaid break.

Qualifications

• Valid HGV Class 2 (C+E) licence.
• Minimum 2 years' experience driving Class 2 HGVs.
• Clean driving record with no major violations or accidents.
• Ability to read and follow GPS/navigation systems.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Physically fit for handling heavy loads.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate a Class 2 HGV vehicle.
• Deliver and collect goods, including tail lift kerbside deliveries.
• Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle checks.
• Maintain accurate records of deliveries and pickups.
• Communicate effectively with the team and report issues promptly.
• Handle goods with care and secure them using best practices.

Class 2 HGV Driver - Hemel Hempstead Distribution Centre

Robert Dyas is looking for a skilled Class 2 HGV Driver to join our growing team at our Hemel Hempstead Distribution Centre.

About the Role:

In this role, you'll be responsible for the safe and timely delivery of goods to and from our locations. You'll ensure all deliveries and pickups are completed efficiently, while adhering to strict safety regulations and company procedures.

What you'll do:

• Safely operate a Class 2 HGV vehicle
• Deliver and collect goods, including using a tail lift for kerbside deliveries
• Conduct thorough pre-trip inspections and post-trip vehicle checks
• Maintain accurate records of deliveries and pickups
• Communicate effectively with the team and report any issues promptly
• Handle goods with care and secure them properly using best practice procedures

Hours:

18:00 - 02:45 with 45 min break unpaid (48 hours per week)

What we're looking for:

• Valid HGV Class 2 (C+E) licence
• Minimum 2 years' experience driving Class 2 HGVs
• Clean driving record with no major violations or accidents
• Ability to read and follow GPS and navigation systems
• Excellent communication skills
• Physically fit for handling heavy loads
• Experience with multi-drop deliveries, including kerbside with a tail lift

It will be a bonus:

• Driver trainer/assessor experience
• Hiab (mounted crane lorry) licence
