Job summary

Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking a Transport Team member to deliver a friendly, prompt and professional service across the trust. The role requires a clean driving licence, 7.5-ton licence and CPC, with DBS clearance.

You will travel across Leeds and surrounding areas, with some nationwide duties, supporting patient care and equipment movement in a fast-paced NHS environment. Commitment to compassionate service is essential.

Qualifications

  • Clean driving licence and CPC Card required.
  • DBS check required.
  • Transport NVQ or GCSEs or equivalent.
  • Substantial professional driving experience in a fast-paced or service-led environment.
  • Experience in a customer-focused role delivering high service standards.
  • Clear and professional communication, verbally and in writing, via radio, telephone and IT systems.
  • Knowledge of service users’ needs with a compassionate approach.
  • Flexible/adaptable to changing demands that impact patient care.
  • NHS/healthcare experience desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver a friendly, prompt, and professional transport service on behalf of Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
  • Support patient care by moving items, equipment and delivering services as part of the Transport Team.
  • Travel nationwide as required and manage a dynamic workload.
  • Maintain safety and manual handling practices in line with NHS guidelines.

What You Will Bring To The Role
  • A full, clean driving licence
  • An understanding that this post is subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check
  • Relevant formal qualifications, such as a Transport NVQ, GCSEs, or equivalent
  • Substantial professional driving experience, ideally in a fast‑paced or service‑led environment
  • Experience of working in a customer‑focused role, delivering a high standard of service
  • The ability to communicate clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing, using radio, telephone, and IT systems
  • A working knowledge and understanding of service users’ needs and requirements, with a compassionate and respectful approach
  • The ability to remain flexible and adaptable, responding effectively to changing demands that may impact patient care
  • Previous experience working within the NHS or healthcare setting (desirable)
