Job summary

Leicester City Council is seeking a Drainage/Logistics Operative to join the Highways Maintenance Service. The role involves gully cleansing, sewer and watercourse work, and general highway construction and repair activities on site across Leicester.

Based at 90 Leycroft Road, you'll work 37 hours per week with potential night shifts October to April and occasional overtime. A Class 1 or 2 HGV licence is essential, and training and progression opportunities are available.

Qualifications

• Experience as Drainage/Logistics Operative or similar in construction.
• Knowledge of health, safety and environmental requirements.
• Ability to follow instructions and complete paperwork (timesheets/worksheets).
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Carry out gully cleansing and general highway drainage construction and repair.
• Assist other skilled staff and undertake excavation, lay pipes and construct chambers.
• Use power-assisted tools, small plant and machinery; drive and maintain vehicles.
• Plan and prioritise work to meet productivity targets while following safety requirements.
