Job summary

Leicester City Council’s Highways Maintenance Service is seeking a skilled Roadworker to join a team that maintains and repairs over 500 miles of road and 800 miles of footpaths across the city. You will lay paving materials and tarmac, and perform manual labour as part of highway, sewer and drainage works.

Based at 90 Leycroft Road, this full-time role (37 hours) includes early starts, potential overtime and an out-of-hours standby rota.

Qualifications

• Experience in road construction and surfacing works.
• Ability to interpret works instructions and specifications.

Responsibilities

• Lay and rake tarmac/bituminous surfacing by hand or machine to high precision and tight tolerances.
• Use power-assisted tools and minor plant; drive, clean and maintain vehicles and plant.
• Plan and prioritise work to meet productivity targets and comply with Health & Safety rules.
