Job summary

The Drain Group is seeking a skilled Drainage Engineer to join our operations across the UK from Birmingham. You will diagnose, repair, install and maintain drainage systems, handling both reactive and planned maintenance with a safety-first mindset and strong customer focus.

You will use CCTV survey equipment and jetting units, work with minimal supervision, and contribute to high-quality service delivery for homes, businesses, and critical infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in drainage engineering or a similar field-based utilities/maintenance role.
• Strong diagnostic skills and the ability to resolve complex drainage issues.
• Good communication skills and a professional, customer-focused approach.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Carry out a range of drainage works including CCTV inspections, jetting, unblocking and cleaning.
• Diagnose drainage faults and recommend effective solutions.
• Produce accurate reports, job sheets and CCTV footage using company systems.
• Operate vehicles, machinery and equipment safely and in line with training and regulations.
• Provide excellent customer service on-site and keep clients informed throughout works.
• Respond to emergency callouts as part of the team rota.
• Ensure compliance with health & safety policies and environmental guidelines.

About the role

Due to growth and expansion of the business, we are seeking a skilled and proactive Drainage Engineer to join our operational team. The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, installing and maintaining drainage systems while delivering an excellent customer experience. This role involves both reactive and planned maintenance work, requiring technical expertise, problem-solving ability and a safety-first mindset.

Key Responsibilities

Carry out a range of drainage works including:

• CCTV drainage inspections
• High-pressure water jetting
• Drain unblocking and cleaning
• Diagnose drainage faults, recommend solutions.
• Produce accurate reports, job sheets and CCTV survey footage using company systems.
• Operate vehicles, machinery and equipment safely and in line with training and regulations.
• Provide excellent customer service on-site, ensuring clients are kept informed and reassured throughout works.
• Respond to emergency callouts as part of the team rota.
• Ensure compliance with health & safety policies, industry standards and environmental guidelines.

Skills & Experience

• Proven experience in drainage engineering or a similar field-based utilities/maintenance role.
• Proficiency in using CCTV survey equipment, jetting units and other drainage technology.
• Strong diagnostic skills and the ability to resolve complex drainage issues.
• Full UK Driving Licence.
• Good communication skills and a professional, customer-focused approach.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Confined Space Entry certification.
• CSCS card.
