Job summary

Lanes Group PLC is seeking a Drainage Assistant to join the Wellingborough Depot. You will work with experienced engineers, carry out surveys, identify defects, and support maintenance strategies.

The role is permanent full-time with day and night shifts, 47.5 hours weekly, and a salary of £12.50–£16.35 per hour depending on experience and shift. Benefits include pension, training, and development opportunities.

Qualifications

• Full UK driving licence (no more than 6 penalty points).
• Strong interest in drainage, utilities, or civil engineering.
• Practical, hands-on approach and willingness to work outdoors in all conditions.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Basic computer skills and a desire to learn new software.

Responsibilities

• Communicate with customers about scheduled works and address any concerns.
• Assist in identifying drainage issues, including blockages, defects, infiltration, and root ingress.
• Operate high-pressure water jetting equipment to clean drains, sewers, and pipework.
• Remove waste materials and prevent build-up in wastewater systems.
• Perform routine equipment checks and maintenance to ensure readiness.
• Support CCTV inspections to assess underground pipes and sewers.
• Assist in emergency response situations, including flooding and urgent drainage issues.
• Learn to complete RAMS under supervision.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Drainage Assistant to join our team working out of our Wellingborough Depot. You'll be working alongside experienced engineers to carry out surveys of drainage systems, learning how to assess conditions, identify defects, and support maintenance and repair strategies. • Monday to Friday Days 47.5 hours per week
• Monday to Friday Nights 47.5 hours per week
• 4 on 4 off Nights
• Salary: £12.50 - £16.35 dependent on experience and shift

As a Drainage Assistant, you will:

• Communicate with customers about scheduled works and address any concerns.
• Assist in identifying drainage issues, including blockages, structural defects, infiltration, and root ingress.
• Operate high-pressure water jetting equipment to clean and clear drains, sewers, and pipework.
• Remove waste materials and prevent build-up in wastewater systems.
• Perform routine equipment checks and maintenance to ensure readiness.
• Support CCTV inspections to assess the condition of underground pipes and sewers.
• Assist in emergency response situations, including flooding and urgent drainage issues.
• Learn to complete job sheets, risk assessments, and method statements (RAMS) under supervision.
