Job summary

NHS Blood and Transplant is seeking a Donor Carer to support blood donors across sessions. You will travel to venues with a mobile team, provide a safe, positive donor experience and help with donor health screening and post-donation care.

You will gain practical clinical skills while contributing to high quality care. The role includes shift work with evenings, weekends and bank holidays, no night shifts, and a 4 days per fortnight pattern.

Qualifications

• Experience dealing with the public.
• Experience delivering a quality customer service.
• Willing to learn new technology skills and undergo digital training.

Responsibilities

• Welcome and support donors throughout their visit to deliver a safe, caring donation experience.
• Learn and develop practical healthcare skills including donor health screening, venepuncture and post-donation care.
• Work as part of a multidisciplinary team delivering high-quality donor care and service excellence.
• Maintain accurate donor records and support safe handling, reconciliation and transport of blood products and samples.
• Encourage donors to return for regular donation appointments.
