Job summary

NHS Scotland is recruiting a Domestic Supervisor for Uist and Barra Hospital, Balavanich, Isle of Benbecula. This 20-hour-per-week permanent post is on a Band 3 salary (£29,103–£31,409 pro rata) plus £1,461 Distant Island Allowance pro rata. Driving licence is essential; shift is 3pm–7pm with occasional work at other NHS Western Isles sites.

The Domestic Services Team provides high-quality domestic service to patients and staff, with supervision of assistants and adherence to schedules.

Responsibilities

• Supervise Domestic Assistants and ensure adequate staffing cover within wards and departments.
• Maintain a clean and safe environment for patients, staff and visitors.
• Evening shift 3pm–7pm; occasional work at other NHS Western Isles sites.
• Train staff to use cleaning equipment and ensure mandatory training is completed.
• Wear protective clothing and complete daily/weekly sign-off sheets for areas.

We are currently recruiting for a Domestic Supervisor to join our Domestic Services Team at the Uist and Barra Hospital, Balavanich, Isle of Benbecula, HS7 5LA.

The successful candidate will be required to provide an efficient and high-quality domestic service to patients and staff, follow specific schedule of work relating to defined areas. Duties include day to day Supervision of Domestic Assistants, ensuring adequate staffing cover within the wards and departments, to ensure a clean and safe environment for patients, staff and visitors.

Supervisory experience is desirable, however full training will be given. A degree of flexibility is required; this post involves evening and an occasional requirement to work at other outlying NHS Western Isles Health Board sites.

Shift times are 3pm to 7pm. Driving Licence is essential for this post.

There is the requirement for you have a flexible approach to your daily routine. There will be the use of economic and safe use of cleaning agents, following manufacturers recommended instructions. You are required to wear protective clothing as supplied by the Department and complete all daily/weekly sign off sheets for areas.
