NHS Ayrshire and Arran is seeking a Domestic Assistant to join the Domestic Services Department at Ayrshire Central Hospital on a permanent, part-time basis. The post offers 14.8 hours per week with shifts Mon-Thu 1:30pm-4:30pm and Fri 1:30pm-4:18pm.

Applicants should be physically fit and able to work independently or as part of a team in a healthcare environment. A high standard of cleanliness is required, with full training provided.

Qualifications

• Experience in housekeeping or healthcare cleaning is advantageous.
• Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
• Good communication and physical fitness are essential.

Position:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Domestic Assistant based at Ayrshire Central Hospital. This post is offered on a permanent basis.

Hours:

14.8 hours per week.

Mon - Thurs 1:30pm-4:30pm & Friday 1:30pm - 4:18pm (14.8hr)

Job share will be considered for this post.

From 1 April 2026, the working week for NHS Agenda for Change staff in Scotland will be reduced. Full-time hours will reduce from 37 to 36 hours (pro rata for part-time staff) without loss of earnings.

Working within the Domestic Services Department you will undertake a variety of housekeeping/cleaning duties which are carried out to a high standard.

Knowledge, training and/or experience required for this post:

Working within the Domestic Services Department you will undertake a variety of housekeeping/cleaning duties. Experience with industrial cleaning equipment or working within a healthcare setting, would be advantageous but not essential as full training will be given. The ability to work on both your own initiative and as part of a team and good communication skills are essential. Applicants should be physically fit, understand the importance of cleanliness in a healthcare environment. Priorities can change due to staffing and activity in the North Sector premises, and a degree of flexibility is required. Full training will be provided.
