Role Description

This role for 30 hours is located in Swindon for a Domestic Abuse Support Worker. The Domestic Abuse Support Worker will provide vital support services to individuals impacted by domestic abuse in the BAME community. Day-to-day tasks include offering emotional and practical support, conducting risk assessments, developing safety plans, and ensuring the safeguarding of clients. The role also involves liaising with external agencies, maintaining accurate records, and providing crisis intervention when necessary. There needs to be an understanding of BAME community culture and facilitate workshops and seminars to raise awareness on domestic abuse.

Qualifications

  • Experience as a Domestic Abuse Support Worker preferred
  • Strong Interpersonal and Communication Skills
  • Understanding of Safeguarding practices
  • Technical Support skills
  • Empathy, patience, and the ability to handle sensitive situations
  • Knowledge of domestic abuse issues and protective legislation
  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field is beneficial
