Job summary

Sandwell Council is seeking an experienced Advanced Practitioner / Best Interest Assessor to join the DoLS team. The role focuses on high-quality Best Interests Assessments, MCA leadership, and staff development within a supportive, collaborative environment.

We offer 4 weekly supervision, a comprehensive induction, hybrid working, pension scheme, and opportunities to influence MCA/DoLS practice across the organisation.

Qualifications

• Best Interest Assessor qualification required.
• Strong knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards.
• Experience in coaching and mentoring others.

Responsibilities

• Complete complex Best Interests Assessments under DoLS.
• Provide leadership and expert advice on MCA and DoLS.
• Support and develop practitioners to improve MCA understanding.
• Design and deliver training, workshops and reflective practice sessions.
• Facilitate MCA and DoLS surgeries with guidance and problem-solving support.
• Promote joint working with internal teams and external partners.
