Job summary

Dogs Trust in Salisbury is seeking a Dog Welfare Assistant to join our Rehoming team. You will care for dogs daily, follow our code of practice and health guidelines, and help prepare dogs for their forever homes.

The role operates on a rota with weekend shifts, covering either 8:00am–4:30pm or 10:30am–7:00pm. You will educate potential owners and visitors, deliver excellent customer service, and contribute to a welcoming centre environment.

Qualifications

• Excellent communicator with the ability to show empathy to both people and dogs.
• Strong team player with lots of energy and a positive attitude.
• Experience in working with or handling dogs and knowledge of basic behaviour and health issues.
• A full manual driving licence is essential.

Responsibilities

• provide daily care to the dogs in the rehoming centre, working to Dogs Trust's code of practice and Health and Safety guidelines,
• educate potential new owners and the general public on the care and welfare of their dogs,
• deliver excellent customer service to all visitors to the centre.
