Job summary

SP Energy Networks, part of the Iberdrola Group, is seeking three Document Controllers (Quality) to support major transmission projects in Scotland. Based at Aspect House, Blantyre, the role offers a 37 hour week, a hybrid model (3 days in the office, 2 days from home) and a salary from £34,040 with strong benefits.

You will manage digital document workflows, maintain registers, ensure quality compliance, and collaborate with engineers, project managers and suppliers across the project

Qualifications

  • Experience in a Document Controller role within engineering/construction/utilities.
  • HND (or equivalent) in Document Control.
  • Experience with Document Management Systems and document control procedures.
  • Strong IT skills including Microsoft Office and databases.

Responsibilities

  • Manage digital document workflows within DMS.
  • Maintain project documentation, registers, revisions and approvals.
  • Ensure documentation meets internal quality standards and project requirements.
  • Coordinate information exchange between teams, contractors and suppliers.
  • Conduct document audits to ensure data integrity and compliance.
  • Support project handover and final file compilation.
  • Assist with system improvements and user support across projects.

Document Controller x3 (Quality) – Location: Aspect House, Blantyre – Salary: from £34,040 with strong benefits package and excellent career progression

Contract type: Permanent | Full Time – Working Pattern: 37 hour week, with flexibility around start and finish times (7:30am‑3:30pm or 8am‑4pm), plus a hybrid model of 3 days in the office and 2 days working from home. – Closing date: 2nd September2026.

This is a specialist, technical document control role supporting major transmission infrastructure projects across our portfolio. Working alongside Project Managers, Engineers, Quality professionals and external delivery partners, you’ll be responsible for ensuring the integrity, governance and control of project documentation throughout the project lifecycle.

Key responsibilities include
  • Managing digital document workflows within our Document Management Systems (DMS)
  • Maintaining project documentation, registers, revisions and approval workflows
  • Ensuring documentation complies with internal quality standards, project requirements and industry best practice
  • Managing document transmittals and coordinating information exchange between project teams, contractors and suppliers
  • Conducting document audits and quality checks to ensure data integrity and compliance
  • Supporting project handover and final file compilation activities
  • Assisting with system improvements, document control procedures and user support across projects
  • Working closely with engineering, construction, procurement and project delivery teams to ensure accurate and timely document management
What you’ll bring
  • Previous experience in a Document Controller position within an engineering, construction, utilities or infrastructure environment
  • An HND (or equivalent qualification) in Document Control, although applicants with strong practical document control experience will also be considered
  • Experience working with Document Management Systems and document control procedures
  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office and database systems
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail and a structured approach to information management
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Experience using Autodesk Forma, ProjectWise or SharePoint
  • Experience supporting large-scale construction, utilities or infrastructure projects
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems
  • Knowledge of ISO19650 / BIM information management principles
  • Experience supporting project handover and final file completion processes
