Overgate Hospice in Elland is seeking a medically qualified doctor to provide inpatient care alongside a multi-professional team and to contribute to Day Hospice input with strong independent decision-making. You will support primary care teams and other professionals.

The role also involves advising junior colleagues, participating in non-resident on-call duties, maintaining medical records, and contributing to audit, research, and service development within a values-driven environment.

Salary

£198.78 per 8-hour day, £99.39 per on-call session

Hours

32 hours = 4 x 8hr days = 0.8 WTE per week (Tuesdays to Fridays 8.30am-5pm), plus 1 in 5 weeknights and weekends on call

Main duties

• Support and advise any medical colleagues and students who are more junior or less experienced in palliative medicine.
• Participate in the non-resident on-call rota.
• Maintain and administer medical records as per Hospice policy.
• Ensure confidentiality of information is always preserved, whether at or away from work.
• Be involved in audit, research, and service development programmes as appropriate.
• Participate actively in multi-professional discussions and meetings.

Essential qualifications

• Full registration with the GMC and a licence to practise.
• Completion of Foundation Year 1 and 2.
• Previous employment as a doctor in the NHS.
• Excellence in both written and spoken English language.

Desirable

• Completion of Core Medical training or equivalent.
• M.R.C.P. / M.R.C.G.P.
