Job summary

Drayton Manor in Tamworth is seeking a dedicated Kitchen Porter for a busy restaurant environment. You will support the kitchen team, carry out cleaning duties, handle dishwashing and assist with basic food prep as required.

The role is a part-time 16-hour position on site. You will contribute to a safe, hygienic kitchen and help maintain stock and equipment while delivering excellent guest service.

Responsibilities

• Carry out cleaning duties as per cleaning schedule and instructions from Head Chef, Sous Chef and Chef de Partie.
• Operate dishwashing machines and cleaning equipment.
• Clean all work surfaces, shelves, floors, walls, sinks and cupboards.
• Empty and clean rubbish bins and keep refuse area dean and free from rubbish.
• Clean and tidy Staff Canteen.
• Adhere to all health and safety regulations and hotel policies.
• Assist in food preparation by washing, peeling and chopping vegetables as required.
• Maintain kitchen cleanliness and organization; wash dishes, pots and pans.
• Help with stock rotation and inventory management to minimise waste.

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Kitchen Porter to join our dynamic team in a fast-paced restaurant environment. As a Kitchen Porter, you will play a vital role in supporting the kitchen staff by ensuring that the kitchen operates smoothly and efficiently.

Duties

• Carry out all cleaning duties as per cleaning schedule and instructions from Head Chef, Sous Chef and Chef de Partie
• To ensure the correct use of different cleaning chemicals and materials as per manufacturer's instructions
• To operate dishwashing machines and cleaning equipment
• Clean all work surfaces, shelves, floors, walls, sinks and cupboards etc.
• Empty and clean rubbish bins as necessary and keep refuse area dean and free from any rubbish.
• Clean and tidy Staff Canteen
• Ensure work areas are kept clean, safe and tidy at all times
• Comply with all COSHH regulations
• To ensure that all equipment is functional and properly maintained.
• To ensure that the cleaning material / chemical cupboard is kept clean and tidy and that all chemicals are stored correctly
• Control the security of company stock and property
• Adhere to all regulations in respect of hotel policies and standards, i.e.mandates and food standards.
• Adhere to all regulations in respect of Health & Safety, hygiene, guest safety, fire regulations, emergency procedures,etc.
• Assist in food preparation by washing, peeling, and chopping vegetables as required.
• Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, including washing dishes, pots, and pans.
• Ensure all kitchen equipment is cleaned and stored properly after use.
• Help with stock rotation and inventory management to minimise waste.
• Adhere to health and safety regulations, ensuring a safe working environment for all staff.
• Assist with deliveries and storage of food supplies when necessary.

Experience

Looking for someone who is has a willingness to learn and develop their skills in the hospitality industry. A basic understanding of food preparation techniques and a keen interest in this industry will be advantageous. The ideal candidate should possess a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
