Job summary

Tameside and Glossop District Nursing Service is seeking a district nurse specialist practitioner to lead the routine work of the district nursing team. The role is 28.5 hours across a seven-day pattern with condensed hours available and a six-week supernumerary induction.

Non-medical prescribing registration is required, and the post emphasises teaching and mentoring junior staff, with opportunities for development within an integrated neighbourhood setting.

Qualifications

• Registered General Nurse.
• Community Specialist Practitioner qualification (DN pathway).
• Registered non-medical prescriber.

Responsibilities

• Manage routine activities of the district nursing team, including workload and staff rotas.
• Exercise leadership and clinical judgement to maintain high standards of care.
• Organise workload to meet service demand.
• Work within an integrated neighbourhood and participate in organisational changes.
• Assess and develop students and junior staff, designing learning programmes.
• Act as a mentor to students and junior staff.
