Job summary

Novus is seeking a Learning and Skills Worker to support learners accessing distance learning courses at HMP Stoke Heath, near Market Drayton. The role involves setting up and managing learner IT accounts, facilitating computer-based learning and coordinating with external tutors and colleges.

You will record progress and work with the education team to secure learner engagement and achievement. The position is permanent, part-time (13 hours per week), with safeguarding checks required.

Qualifications

• Hold Hidden Difficulties Level 2 or equivalent (or be willing to work towards within an agreed timeframe)
• Hold Level 2 qualifications in Literacy and Numeracy (or be willing to work towards within an agreed timeframe)
• Achieve performance and quality targets
• Produce accurate and timely reporting
• Demonstrate positive team working
• Have experience of conducting assessments and supporting learning of individuals and groups from diverse backgrounds
• Have experience of working with groups of learners with a range of abilities
• Have experience of successful working in an effective multi-disciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Support learners to access and progress on distance learning courses, setting up and managing learner IT accounts
• Facilitate learning on computers and navigate online platforms and course materials
• Liaise with external tutors, colleges and universities to support learner engagement
• Maintain accurate records and monitor progress
• Work collaboratively with the wider education team to provide guidance and support to learners
