Job summary

Goodman Masson is partnering with a leading social housing provider to appoint a Disrepair Surveyor to manage complex legal disrepair cases across a large residential portfolio.

You will conduct detailed building defect inspections, produce high-quality reports for external solicitors, and oversee remedial works with contractors and engineers. This hands-on role involves collaboration with residents, housing teams and authorities and adherence to the Disrepair Protocol.

Qualifications

• Strong Building Surveying experience, particularly around defects and disrepair.
• Proven experience within a social housing / housing association environment.
• Hands-on experience managing legal disrepair claims and the Disrepair Protocol.
• Good knowledge of construction methods, building defects and CDM.
• Experience managing contractors and consultants.
• Strong report writing, analytical and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience managing project budgets and financial controls.

Responsibilities

• Managing small and large-scale legal disrepair cases from inspection through to resolution.
• Carrying out detailed building defect, condition and disrepair inspections.
• Producing high-quality technical reports for external solicitors and legal teams.
• Identifying defects, developing specifications and overseeing remedial works.
• Managing contractors, consultants and engineers, ensuring quality, value for money and timely delivery.
• Acting as Project Manager on larger surveying and property-related projects.
• Managing project budgets ranging from approximately £20k–£500k.
• Working closely with residents, local authorities, legal teams, housing teams and contractors.
• Ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, policies, health & safety requirements and the Disrepair Protocol.

Are you an experienced Building Surveyor with a strong background in social housing and legal disrepair?

We’re working with a leading social housing provider to appoint a Disrepair Surveyor to play a key role in managing and resolving complex disrepair cases across a large residential property portfolio.

This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong surveyor who enjoys working on challenging cases, engaging with residents and legal stakeholders, and delivering practical solutions that improve the quality of customers’ homes.

The Role
