Job summary

Tower Eyecare, a newly established optometry practice in Holywell, North Wales, seeks a Dispensing Optician/Experienced Optical Assistant for on-site, full-time or part-time work. The role involves guiding patients in frame and lens selections, advising on lens types and coatings, and ensuring precise dispensing measurements.

Responsibilities include supporting optometrists with patient flow, explaining prescriptions, scheduling appointments, and assisting with pre-screening and diagnostic tests

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of optics and dispensing principles.
• Ability to explain prescriptions in clear, patient-friendly language.
• Experience supporting eye exams in an optometry or optical practice.
• Willingness to support Low Vision services where applicable.
• Excellent customer service with attention to detail.
• Good IT skills for practice management systems and record keeping.

Responsibilities

Role Description

This is a full-time or part-time, on-site role for a Dispensing Optician/Experienced Optical Assistant located in Holywell. The role involves guiding patients in the selection of frames and lenses, advising on lens types, coatings, and fitting options, and ensuring accurate measurements for dispensing spectacles. Day-to-day tasks include supporting optometrists with patient flow, explaining prescriptions, booking and managing appointments, and assisting with pre-screening and diagnostic tests where appropriate. The role also includes providing excellent customer service, handling repairs and adjustments, maintaining stock displays, and ensuring that all interactions support a positive patient experience and high clinical standards.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of optics and understanding of optometry principles relevant to dispensing. Understanding of Welsh General Optical Services a benefit.
