Job summary

Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Senior Pharmacy Technician to lead the dispensary team across main and satellite sites. The role emphasizes accuracy checking, staff supervision, and service development within a busy hospital pharmacy.

The post requires GPhC registration and an accuracy checking qualification, with opportunities for further staff management training. Weekend shifts may be required in a 7 day service.

Qualifications

• Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) as a Pharmacy Technician.
• BTEC and NVQ level 3 in Pharmaceutical Sciences or equivalent qualification.
• Membership with ATPUK and Leadership Qualification is desirable.
• Experience in supervising staff and contributing to SOP development.

Responsibilities

• Perform final technical accuracy check on dispensed prescriptions.
• Lead a team of junior technicians and assistants in dispensary operations.
• Support delivery of dispensary KPIs and staff training.
• Coordinate training of staff in procedures and IT systems, including NVQ assessments.
• Mentor and develop pharmacy assistants and junior staff.
• Act as role model, promoting integrity and leadership in the team.
• Manage a defined area of responsibility within the medication supply chain.
