Job summary

Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Senior Nurse to lead the Discharge Lounge on a 9‑month secondment (Band 7). You will supervise the department, manage day‑to‑day operations, and provide clinical leadership to the multi‑disciplinary team.

The post requires strong communication skills, clinical credibility, and a proactive approach to discharge planning. Internal applicants only; interview date is 22 October; salary £49,387 to £56,515 per year.

Qualifications

• Active NMC registration as a Registered Nurse (Adult) with substantial post-registration experience.
• Recognised Nursing Degree or equivalent with Teaching Qualification.
• Bronze QI qualification with desire to work towards Silver.

Responsibilities

• Carry overall responsibility for the organisation and management of the department, including supervision of students.
• Be professionally accountable for maintaining standards and professional practice as per NMC Code and guidelines.
• Function as a competent clinical practitioner within the discharge lounge and deliver direct patient care while coordinating nursing practice.
• Provide professional clinical leadership within a defined area and inspire the multi-disciplinary team.
