Job summary

Everpool Recruitment is seeking a Disability Assessor – Nurse, Physio, OT or Paramedic. The role involves conducting independent assessments of individuals with health conditions applying for Employment Support Allowance (ESA).

Assessments can be done via telephone, video, or face-to-face, primarily at Assessment Centres. The ideal candidate will hold a relevant healthcare registration and have a minimum of one year’s clinical experience.

• Strong written and verbal clinical communication skills.

Disability Assessor – Nurse, Physio, OT or Paramedic

Salary: £50,000

Hours: Monday – Friday (9am – 5pm)

Essential Criteria:

• Registered healthcare professional (NMC/HCPC registration required).
• Minimum of one years’ post-registration clinical experience.
• Strong written and verbal clinical communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage a clinical caseload efficiently.
• Experience working with complex health conditions

Role Summary

The Disability Assessor conducts independent assessments of individuals with health conditions or disabilities applying for Employment support allowance (ESA). The role requires producing comprehensive, evidence-based reports for the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP). The assessor is not responsible for benefit entitlement decisions.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct telephone, video, or face-to-face assessments of claimants, primarily at Assessment Centres, with some community visits as required.
• Perform thorough evaluations to determine how a claimant’s disability or health condition affects daily living.
• Assess individuals with a range of physical, mental health, cognitive, and sensory impairments.
• Produce impartial, accurate, and high-quality written reports using a designated IT system.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant policies, procedures, and assessment criteria.
• Adhere to all professional standards, including Safeguarding, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, Data Protection, and Risk Management.
