Job summary

Axon seeks a Director of Software Engineering to lead multiple engineering teams, delivering secure, scalable software for public safety and enterprise customers. You will own technical direction, translate product priorities into clear plans, and mentor leaders to raise delivery standards.

The role is based in London with a hybrid work schedule: onsite Tue–Fri and remote Mon, supporting collaboration, mentorship, and a high-trust culture focused on Protect Life.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of software engineering experience including leadership roles.
• At least 5 years leading teams and developing engineers.
• Proven track record delivering complex software across multiple teams.
• Strong fluency in distributed systems, cloud services and modern architecture.

Responsibilities

• Lead multiple software engineering teams ensuring quality, delivery and performance.
• Define roadmaps and trade-offs with product and design partners.
• Guide architecture and system-design decisions across your area.
• Build practices for testing, CI/CD, observability and reliability.
• Own the operational health of services and drive improvements.
• Hire, coach and develop engineering managers and engineers.
• Collaborate with stakeholders across Axon including Security and Compliance.
