About Equally Ours:
We’re the UK charity that brings together people and organisations working across equality, human rights, and social justice to make these a reality in everyone’s lives. Our vision is a just and compassionate society where we are free from harm, and everyone can contribute and flourish—whoever we are, whatever we believe, and whatever we have or don’t have. A society that is equally ours.
About the role:
We’re seeking a new Director of Policy and Public Affairs to protect and advance equality and human rights in the UK by increasing our policy impact and working collaboratively to harness the power of our network.
The Director will play a key role in safeguarding and promoting equality and human rights. This role focuses on expanding our policy and public affairs capacity to achieve the goals outlined in our 10-year strategy, Together for Social Justice.
You will develop and implement high-impact policy influencing strategies on three major issues: law, climate, and investment. This involves working on critical public policy topics such as embedding equality and human rights in government initiatives, ensuring a robust legal framework for rights protections, raising public awareness of human rights’ value, and creating a work programme to enable those most at risk to lead policy development on climate breakdown.
Ideal candidates will have a proven track record of creating innovative policy solutions that influence public policy and drive social change. You should be skilled in fostering constructive dialogue across political and civil society spheres, possess a deep understanding of systemic racial justice, and be confident in communicating complex legal and technical issues engagingly to diverse audiences, including the media. Collaboration and relationship-building are essential skills for this role.
We are a small team that thrives on combining lived and professional expertise with that of our network’s leading thinkers and organisations. We offer flexible working, autonomy, and a supportive environment where your initiative makes a difference.
Why choose Equally Ours?
Generous benefits include an enhanced pension, 26 days of annual leave, health and wellbeing support, and more.
Flexible working arrangements to help balance your professional and personal life.
A collaborative culture that values lived experience alongside professional expertise.
If you’re eager to use your skills to drive meaningful social change, we’d love to hear from you.
