Location: Hybrid (Vauxhall, London)

Contract Type: Permanent, Part-time (0.8 FTE)

Working Hours: 4 days per week (flexible working available)

About the Role

Our client is seeking a Director of Policy and Public Affairs to enhance their policy impact and strengthen collaboration across their extensive network, with the aim of protecting and advancing equality and human rights in the UK.

This key leadership role will focus on growing the organisation’s policy and public affairs capacity, delivering on the ambitions outlined in their 10-year strategy, Together for Social Justice.

The successful candidate will lead the development and execution of high-impact policy influencing strategies in three core areas: law, climate, and investment. This includes work on embedding equality and human rights in government strategies, securing a robust legal framework of rights protections, raising public awareness of human rights, and enabling those most affected by rights risks to drive policy on climate justice.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and deliver innovative policy strategies that influence public policy and lead to tangible social change
• Lead work across key issues: legal rights frameworks, climate justice, and investment policy
• Build strong, cross-spectrum relationships within civil society and political circles
• Translate complex legal and policy content into accessible and compelling messages for various audiences, including the media
• Champion racial justice and help shape systemic change through inclusive policy development
• Collaborate closely with internal teams and external partners to maximise the impact of shared knowledge and lived experience

Who We’re Looking For

• A strong track record in developing effective policy and public affairs strategies that achieve change
• Demonstrated ability to work across political and civil society landscapes
• Deep understanding of systemic racial injustice and how to address it through policy
• Excellent communication skills, particularly the ability to demystify technical content for diverse audiences
• Collaborative mindset and a proven ability to build consensus and nurture partnerships
