Job summary

Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow is seeking a Director of Membership and Governance to lead UK and international membership strategies, income generation, and governance processes. You will collaborate with College Council, Faculty Executive Boards and the CLT to support informed decision making and effective governance across a global community.

Qualifications

• Strong strategic leadership and management experience within a membership organisation, professional body, charity, public sector or similarly regulated environment.
• Excellent knowledge of corporate governance principles, including EDI, with experience advising boards/committees.
• Sound understanding of UK GDPR, Data Protection Act 2018 and information governance requirements.
• Experience in complaints handling, investigations and dispute resolution processes.
• Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills with elected office bearers, trustees and external partners.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Strong financial and commercial acumen.
• Proven track record of delivering governance, management information and supporting decision-making.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement the College's strategic priorities and plans for UK and international membership.
• Ensure governance is conducted effectively in line with regulations and bye-Laws.
• Oversee elections, vacancies, nominations and voting arrangements; maintain transparency and credibility.
• Act as Data Protection Officer and ensure GDPR compliance and handling of external complaints.
• Lead the Membership and Governance Team and manage c12 staff.
• Engage and support 15,000+ members across 100 countries; ensure value and relevance of membership.
