Director of Finance

This is a unique opportunity for a Director of Finance with drive, ambition and a passion for excellence. Reporting to Chief Financial Officer, the post holder will be responsible for the overall planning, management and reporting of the Trust's financial performance.

We are looking for someone with the ability to innovate and adapt the finance function, to support our evolving service models across the Lancashire and South Cumbria Integrated Care System. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your skills in a high profile and demanding organisation.

The post holder will work closely with two Associate Directors of Finance and deputise for the CFO when required.

You will have significant post qualified experience and your career will demonstrate considerable achievements in the finance environment. In addition, you will possess a versatile and inspiring management approach and a real appetite to undertake a broad and challenging position. This role provides an excellent platform for an aspiring Board Level Director who is seeking a challenging and rewarding role.

Main duties of the job

The postholder will be responsible for the strategic and operational leadership of the finance team on a day-to-day basis providing effective and professional leadership to ensure that services are offered to the highest standard and in a way which meets all Trust objectives and professional and statutory requirements.

Responsible for the delivery of effective departmental functions i.e. Financial Management, Costing, Financial Accounts, Capital and Contracting. Provide the Trust with expert knowledge of accounting procedures, legislation and the financial impact of NHS policy and external guidance, Interpret, assess and advise the Chief Finance Officer of the implication of changes in complex financial guidance and policy as it pertains to the Trust and the wider health economy.

Responsible for creating the narrative behind driving changes to financial flows to the group in order to recognise fair funding aligned to National models and expectations.

Operate at a strategic level across all relevant partners, including but not exclusive to Provider Collaborative colleagues, Blackpool place partners, ICB / NHS E colleagues and NW NHS organisations through the finance networks associated with each.

Lead on ensuring compliance with all necessary accounting standards, thereby ensuring that all audit requirements are achieved for the BTH group.

  • Extensive experience of developing long term business plans including taking the lead in developing a long term financial and business model.
  • Extensive experience of financial management, financial services, and procurement including experience at Sub Director level.
  • Extensive experience of managing large and highly complex financial and business process change.
  • Can evidence that can work in a collaboration or partnership, to ensure that a beneficial position is gained for all parties.
  • Extensive experience of leading service integration in financial, business and governance aspects.
