Job summary

Paysafe is seeking a Director of Merchant Risk Data Science to lead hands-on teams and deliver production-ready AI/ML models for merchant risk across payment platforms. You will drive research-to-production, shape modeling strategy, and collaborate with risk, engineering, and data teams in a hybrid setup across London or Dublin.

The role requires 10+ years in data science, expertise in Transformers and representation learning, and strong Python/SageMaker capabilities.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in data science/advanced analytics with hands-on delivery.
• Experience with modern AI/ML techniques beyond tree-based models.
• Proven ability to translate research concepts to production.
• Experience in payments, fraud, or risk is valuable but not mandatory.

Responsibilities

• Design, prototype, and productionalize advanced AI/ML models for merchant risk.
• Lead the adoption of modern modelling techniques including transformers and embeddings.
• Own the end-to-end model lifecycle from problem framing to deployment and monitoring.
• Partner with Risk Strategy, Operations, MLOps and Data Engineering for scalable, explainable models.
