Job summary

Uber Boat by Thames Clippers is seeking a Director of Engineering & Vessel Appearance to lead all fleet engineering activities across two sites, driving safety, reliability, and continuous improvement. You will oversee maintenance, appearance, and compliance with regulatory standards while shaping a modernisation program.

You will manage a large engineering team, collaborate with internal departments and external agencies (MCA), and own supplier and OEM relationships to deliver high-quality

Qualifications

• Extensive technical knowledge, with a transport background.
• Experienced in regulatory environments.
• Experienced People Leader of teams up to 100, preferably across multi sites.
• Expert & robust budget management experience (Circa £10 million p.a.)
• Demonstrable supplier management and stakeholder engagement experience.
• Strong Project definition and delivery, on time, on budget.

Responsibilities

• Accountable for the Safety of the EVA Teams and contractors on the vessels and at the Home Port, Dry Dock Facility and any other remote and/or temporary places of work for the team.
• Defining and implementing training requirements for the department.
• Fleet reliability, maintenance, appearance and regulatory compliance.
• Effective operation of EVA Bases, including dry docking operations.
• Drive technical development of new and existing vessels and infrastructure.
• Ensure all work adheres to International Safety Management and UBTC policies.
• Prepare and manage the department’s budgets and business cases to COO/Executive team.
• Lead the EVA Team with a focus on safety, technical excellence and LEAN efficiency.
